The Noble Task: Different Conversations on Resource Use

This short documentary is the culmination of a two-week documentary trip spent interviewing lobstermen, their communities, and regulators on the coast of Maine in an effort to better understand the complex dynamics of the fishing industry.

It specifically focuses on the animosity between the those who make their living off the sea, and the policy makers who spend their lives trying to maintain healthy ecosystems and balance in the oceans. The us vs. them phenomenon can be found in most natural resource industries. Although this highlights the East Coast fishery, the same conversations around natural resources are happening in many communities in BC, including Squamish.

The dichotomy is fascinating as it is applicable to many of the challenges we face.
