Squamish CAN - Seasonal Sea to Sky Growing Guide

The Squamish CAN Seasonal Planting Guide

Taking steps to grow your own food is more important now than ever. Luckily, our temperate climate makes it easy to grow food for much of the year. It’s economical, friendly on the planet, and so good for the soul.  Squamish Climate Action Network (CAN) put out a paper version of this guide a few years ago. but we put together a digital version. Now it has a forever home on the internet.

Squamish CAN in the Community

Squamish CAN is a non profit organization that has spearheaded many community projects. Their initiatives include community gardens in Garibaldi Estates and Downtown, the Smoke Bluffs Park Vermicomposting Toilet and the Green Business Awards. They are currently working on an edible schoolyard garden at Mamquam Elementary. They have also just created the Squamish Food Swap and Share group- on Facebook. It’s a platform for Squamish residents to SWAP & SHARE their garden abundance, supplies and get help with harvesting fruit. Some of our favourite projects of theirs are the ongoing workshops on things like canning and preserves, making kombucha and kefir, and how to make a hugelkultur garden.
