Zombie Roof (5.12d): Will Stanhope Free Solo and Perry Beckham Backstory
close

Zombie Roof (5.12d) is one of Squamish’s most iconic climbs. Similar to many of the Yosemite overhangs, it is one of the tastiest climbs for advanced climbers in Squamish.

In this short documentary, Perry Beckham recounts the backstory of Peter Croft’s first ascent, as well as their inspirations for naming it Zombie Roof (did you know it was named after a Frank Zappa song?).

And then the legendary Will Stanhope dazzles us with a seemingly effortless free solo of The Roof.

Filmed by local videographer, David Pearson, this is one video that encompasses the best of Squamish’s climbing spirit.
